Sr Engineer I&C Central Assets Management

JOB OVERVIEW

OQ Refineries and Petrol is recruiting a Senior Engineer I&C for Central Assets Management in Sohar, Oman. The role is responsible for designing, analyzing, implementing and maintaining control systems across refinery and petrochemical assets, supporting system availability, process safety, automation projects, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and support the availability of Emergency Shutdown Systems, Distributed Control Systems and PLC-based control loops.
• Develop solutions to maintenance and quality issues affecting control systems in Sohar plants.
• Support new automation projects and control-system improvement initiatives.
• Lead troubleshooting, repair and maintenance activities for control-system equipment.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental teams and third-party contractors.
• Provide technical advice, guidance and support on instrumentation and automation matters.
• Identify improvement opportunities and support root-cause analysis, HAZOP and lifecycle-management activities.
• Guide and develop junior engineers in control-system matters.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in control-system maintenance within refinery, petrochemical or oil & gas environments.
• Strong knowledge of refinery processes, plant equipment, HSE and safety-critical equipment standards.
• Experience with Yokogawa, Honeywell or Schneider DCS/ESD systems.
• Experience with Siemens, Triconex or Allen Bradley PLC systems.
• Knowledge of machine monitoring/protection systems, OT cybersecurity and IEC 62443.
• Excellent written and spoken English; native Arabic is desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, time-management and technical-reporting skills.
