Process Engineer, Heavy Oils - OQ8

JOB OVERVIEW

Duqm Refinery & Petrochem is recruiting a Process Engineer, Heavy Oils for OQ8 in Duqm, Oman. The role provides process-engineering support for heavy-oil refinery units, focusing on optimization, troubleshooting, process safety, technical reviews and continuous improvement across CDU, VDU, DCU, KTU, LTU and SGP operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze plant data using PI and LIMS and recommend remedies for operational deviations.
• Identify optimization, debottlenecking and efficiency-improvement opportunities across heavy-oil process units.
• Coordinate and review complex process design work, heat and material balances and minor modifications.
• Develop and validate process simulation and optimization studies and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor process equipment, perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead HAZOP, PSSR, MOC and process-safety review activities within the role’s scope.
• Develop technical procedures, advanced simulation models and digital performance tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform independent technical reviews of engineering studies and proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations Engineering or a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of relevant refining/process-engineering experience.
• Experience in heavy-oil CDU/VDU/DCU/KTU/LTU/SGP operations and optimization or a relevant field.
• Experience with refinery commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting and process-improvement initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management, HAZOP and MOC reviews.
• Advanced proficiency with process-simulation tools such as HYSYS, PetroSIM or UniSim.
• Excellent written, reading and spoken English.
• Strong communication, planning, technical-review, leadership and mentoring capabilities.
